[미드 쉐도잉] 빅뱅이론_시즌1_ep.01_대본①

내년 2월까지인 오픽 유효기간이 곧 끝나간다.

영어 공부 방법을 고민하던 중 작년에 프렌즈로 쉐도잉했던 기억이 떠올라서 다시 프렌즈로 공부를 시작할 계획이었다.  

예전에는 넷플릭스에서 프렌즈를 볼 수 있었는데 이제는 쿠팡 플레이에서 볼 수 있다길래 부랴부랴 쿠팡 맴버십도

가입하고 쿠팡 플레이도 깔았다.

막상 프렌즈를 보려하니 등장인물들이 너무 많아 일상 대화보다는 리액션이 조금 더 많았던 점이 아쉬었던게 떠올랐다.

쉐도잉할 때는 재미가 필수인지라 다른 재밌는 미드가 없나하고 찾아보던 중 프렌즈로 쉐도잉하던 시절 한 대학 친구가

빅뱅이론이라는 미드도 재밌다고 추천해줬던게 기억났다!

마침 나도 공대를 졸업하고 출장을 가서 영어를 사용해야하는 상황이 온다면 이공계 단어들이 더 도움이 될 것 같아서

이번 미드 쉐도잉은 빅뱅이론으로 결정했다.

 

빅뱅이론은 대학에서 공부하는 4명의 친구들과 옆집으로 새로 이사 온 매력적인 금발 여성의 이야기를 보여주는 시트콤

드라마다. 괴짜이면서 사회성도 떨어져 보이는 4명의 친구들이지만 순수하고 진지한 그들의 매력을 보여주는 미드라서 앞으로 재밌는 공부가 기대된다.

 

시즌1_ep.01 대본①

Scene: A corridor at a sperm bank.

* corridor : 복도

 

Sheldon: So if a photon is directed through a plane with two slits in it and either slit is observed it will not go through both slits. If it’s unobserved it will, however, if it’s observed after it’s left the plane but before it hits its target, it will not have gone through both slits.

Leonard: Agreed, what’s your point?

Sheldon: There’s no point, I just think it’s a good idea for a tee-shirt.

 

Leonard: Excuse me?

 

Receptionist: Hang on.

* hang on : 기다려봐

 

Leonard: One across is Aegean, eight down is Nabakov, twenty-six across is MCM, fourteen down is… move your finger… phylum, which makes fourteen across Port-au-Prince. See, Papa Doc’s capital idea, that’s Port-au-Prince. Haiti.

 

Receptionist: Can I help you?

 

Leonard: Yes. Um, is this the High IQ sperm bank?

 

Receptionist: If you have to ask, maybe you shouldn’t be here.

 

Sheldon: I think this is the place.

 

Receptionist: Fill these out.

* fill something out : ~양식을 채우다.

 

Leonard: Thank-you. We’ll be right back.

* we'll be right back : 바로 돌아올게요

 

Receptionist: Oh, take your time. I’ll just finish my crossword puzzle. Oh wait.

 

(They sit and begin to fill in forms).

 

Sheldon: Leonard, I don’t think I can do this.

 

Leonard: What, are you kidding? You’re a semi-pro.

* are you kidding? : 장난해?

 

Sheldon: No. We are committing genetic fraud. There’s no guarantee that our sperm is going to generate high IQ offspring, think about that. I have a sister with the same basic DNA mix who hostesses at Fuddruckers.

* commit : (그릇된 일, 범죄를) 저지르다

* fraud : 사기

* generate : 만들어내다

* offspring : 자식

* hostess : 점원

※ hostess와 waitress의 차이

- hostess : 여주인, 여성진행자, 기내 여승무원, 여성 종업원

- waitress : 여성 종업원

- 종업원 외에도 더 많은 뜻을 가지고 있는 hostess가 waitress보다 더 포괄적인 의미로 사용 가능

 

Leonard: Sheldon, this was your idea. A little extra money to get fractional T1 bandwidth in the apartment.

* fractional bandwidth : 대역폭

 

Sheldon: I know, and I do yearn for faster downloads, but there’s some poor woman is going to pin her hopes on my sperm, what if she winds up with a toddler who doesn’t know if he should use an integral or a differential to solve the area under a curve.

- do(조동사) : 일반동사 강조 / 생략가능

- 뜻 : 정말로 ~하다

- ex) I do like pizza : 나는 피자를 정말로 좋아한다.

* yearn : 갈망하다

* pin hope on ~ : ~에 희망을 걸다

* wind up with a toddler : 갓난 아기를 낳다

* integral : 적분

* differential : 미분

 

Leonard: I’m sure she’ll still love him.

 

Sheldon: I wouldn’t.

 

Leonard: Well, what do you want to do?

 

Sheldon: I want to leave.

 

Leonard: Okay.

 

Sheldon: What’s the protocol for leaving?

* protocol : 의례

 

Leonard: I don’t know, I’ve never reneged on a proffer of sperm before.

* renege : (약속,합의) 어기다

* proffer : 내놓다

 

Sheldon: Let’s try just walking out.

 

Leonard: Okay.

 

Receptionist: Bye.

 

Sheldon: Bye-bye

 

Leonard: See you.
